Two Worlds In Two Days
Travel between two distinct worlds. And experience two vastly
different cultures. See treasures from the past. And marvels
from a more modern world. Enjoy the unspoiled wilderness. Then,
spoil yourself with all the comforts of city life.
The Heritage Tour
1 Begin your tour in the primordial rainforest of the Queen Charlotte
Islands. See the monumental Haida totems and visit the Haida
Gwaii Museum.
2 Take the BC Ferries to Prince Rupert. Enjoy lunch at an oceanside
restaurant. Or charter a boat and catch your own salmon.
3 Then, take Highway 16 (try to keep your eyes on the road and
not the incredible scenery) to Hazelton and visit the 'Ksan Historical
Village near Hazelton. There are totem poles, longhouses and
artists carving cedar and performing traditional dances.
4 Drive East on Highway 16, stopping in Vanderhoof to tour eleven
beautifully restored 1920s buildings. Then travel on to Prince
George.
5 In Prince George, BC's third largest city, visit art galleries
and restaurants, tour the Railway and Forest Museum which recreates
the history of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. Then take a truly
spectacular 11 km (7-mile) walk along the Heritage River Trails.
